Path To Instructor Certification

LEVELING STATUS
CLASSIFICATION 2020 (levels are being phased out)
Level 1 = Firearms Instructor (FI)
Level 2-3 = Lead Instructor (LI)
Level 3 = Instructor Trainer (IT)
FIREARMS INSTRUCTOR (FI)
(choose Firearms Instructor date for recert)
All Instructors in Massachusetts will be classed as Firearms Instructors.

Can qualify and train officers to MPTC Standards

Can assistant at academy or reserve class

Must meet perquisites to assist

Instructor cadre certified to be Lead instructor at MPTC certified academy or teach the 56hr reserve basic program

All instructors will attend a recert for their “classification” at designated ranges in OCT & NOV, with a remedial date in November. (everyone must go, regardless of the last recert)

You only need to attend 1 recert choose the one that matches your past level. (see classification below)
Recertification Day

6hrs

Qual with system you currently use/teach

After the qual the remain time will be Instructor Development

We will review all the core skills the MPTC expects of a FI.

Please come prepared, if you fail qual or skills you will be asked to come back in November for remedial shoot, if you fail the remedial day you will be decertified. PLEASE COME READY.
